Manchester United could be set for a significant windfall as Middle East outfit Neom Sports Club have reportedly submitted a 100 million euro offer for Marseille forward Mason Greenwood, which would net the Red Devils approximately £43.5 million due to their 50% sell-on clause from his summer transfer to the French club.

Greenwood left Manchester United to join Getafe on loan during the 2023 summer transfer window before securing a permanent move to Marseille this year for around £26 million. The transfer included a 50% sell-on clause for United, meaning they would receive half of any future transfer fee above the amount Marseille paid for the 24-year-old forward.

The England international has made an impressive start at Marseille with 14 goal involvements in his 14 Ligue 1 appearances this season. His performances have attracted attention from several clubs, with Spanish outlet Fichajes reporting that Neom Sports Club wants to finalise a deal for Greenwood as soon as possible and have offered 100 million euros for his services.

According to the report, Neom Sports Club is closely monitoring Greenwood’s statistics and considers them a clear indication that they have a player ready to lead their attack. The club’s 100 million euro offer reflects the importance they place on securing Greenwood’s signature, with Neom prepared to give him a leading role from day one and compete with any team trying to retain the British striker.

Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo’s future at United remains uncertain as he looks increasingly likely to leave on loan in January. Fabrizio Romano reported that United chiefs will sit down with the midfielder this week to decide on what happens in the winter transfer window, while The Athletic claimed on Friday that Mainoo is ready to seek a loan move away from Old Trafford.

United are expected to wait until after the African Cup of Nations finishes in the middle of the winter window before making a final decision on Mainoo. This delay is due to uncertainty over how the tournament will impact Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo and Ivory Coast’s Amad, both of whom could affect United’s squad planning for the remainder of the season.
