Liverpool supporters have voiced significant criticism of manager Arne Slot’s approach this season, with fans expressing frustration over the team’s playing style, tactical decisions and recent performances that have seen the club drop points in crucial matches.

Liverpool Fans Express Growing Frustration With Arne Slot’s Tactical Approach

One Liverpool supporter drew unflattering comparisons between the current team and Arsenal’s late-era Arsene Wenger period, criticizing what they described as “endless backwards and sideways passing that adds up to precisely nothing.” The fan highlighted concerns over Slot’s persistent selection of players including Florian Wirtz, whom they labeled a “featherweight No.10,” and left-back Milos Kerkez, suggesting both players are unsuitable for Premier League football.

The criticism extended to Slot’s tactical setup and team selection, with another supporter questioning why the midfield “offers no protection to our defence” despite not being particularly attacking or creative. Specific frustration was directed at Slot’s continued selection of Cody Gakpo, with the fan arguing that despite occasional goals, the forward remains “predictable, wasteful and poor with the ball” and wastes numerous opportunities.

Liverpool fans expressed concern that the team has “lost a lot of points this season in games after the 90th minute” and highlighted a lack of control and creativity in performances. One supporter described feeling that “every game we play is now a coin toss” and questioned whether sporting director Michael Edwards would intervene, given his role in appointing Richard Hughes, who subsequently selected Slot as manager.

The mounting pressure on Slot comes as Liverpool supporters describe the current season as disappointing, with one fan characterizing it as “meh” while acknowledging it remains acceptable to have a relatively poor campaign after significant squad changes. Some supporters have even suggested bringing back former manager Brendan Rodgers, arguing that despite tactical shortcomings, his approach would at least provide more entertainment than the current style of play.
