Liverpool are closing in on a January agreement to sign 18-year-old defender Mor Talla Ndiaye from Amitie FC in Senegal, with the move expected to trigger the departure of Amara Nallo on loan to gain senior experience at another club.

Liverpool Close to Completing January Deal for Senegal Defender Mor Talla Ndiaye

Ndiaye will link up with Rob Page’s U21 squad after impressing at the U17 World Cup and establishing himself as a regular in Senegal’s second tier with his current club. The promising centre-back caught Liverpool’s attention with his performances at senior level despite his young age, leading to the Reds pursuing a deal during the January transfer window.

The left-footed defender plays as a left-sided centre-back, addressing a position where Liverpool currently lack depth in their squad. Ndiaye is described as tall and quick while being very comfortable on the ball, making him an ideal profile for Liverpool’s defensive requirements. The club expects he will need time to acclimatise to England with no immediate pressure to be involved with the first team.

Once Liverpool complete the signing of Ndiaye, Amara Nallo is expected to leave the club on loan with numerous teams interested in his services. The U21 defender arrived from West Ham United and is highly rated by Liverpool’s academy staff despite suffering red cards in both his competitive first-team appearances against PSV Eindhoven last season and Crystal Palace in the League Cup this season.

Nallo has retained an excellent reputation at the club and stood out with his performances for the U21s, leading Liverpool to believe he is ready for the next step in his career. The loan move will expose him to regular senior football, providing a valuable opportunity for growth and development away from Anfield while Liverpool integrate their new Senegalese signing into the youth setup.
