The Ghana international is scheduled for his medical examination after Bournemouth’s match against Tottenham on Wednesday evening.

City are the only club to have made formal contact with Bournemouth despite interest from five teams including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham. The Premier League champions must activate Semenyo’s release clause by 10 January, with the 25-year-old winger due to have his medical after the Cherries face Spurs at 19:30 GMT on Wednesday.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola acknowledged the likelihood of losing his key player, stating before the Tottenham fixture that he believes “it could be the last game” for Semenyo. However, Iraola emphasized that nothing has been finalized, saying “there is nothing agreed and nothing signed” while describing his assessment as a “personal opinion” based on understanding “the market and the noise.”

Semenyo has been instrumental for Bournemouth this season, contributing nine goals and three assists across all competitions. The Ghana international joined the Cherries in January 2023 from Bristol City and has developed into one of their most valuable assets under Iraola’s management.

Iraola described Semenyo as “almost impossible to replace” while maintaining hope that the winger could remain at the Vitality Stadium. The Spanish manager confirmed that Semenyo “right now, is our player” and expressed his desire for the situation to continue, despite acknowledging the strong transfer interest from Manchester City.
