Northampton Town goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons has signed a new contract to run until the end of next season, with an option for a further 12 months. The 31-year-old has made 20 appearances since joining the League One club last summer and has kept seven clean sheets this campaign.

The experienced goalkeeper joined Northampton last summer following spells at Chesterfield and Scunthorpe United, quickly establishing himself as the club’s first-choice keeper. Fitzsimons has made 20 appearances across all competitions this season and has impressed with his consistent performances between the posts for the League One side.
Fitzsimons began his professional career at Crystal Palace before moving on to various clubs including Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County during his journey through the football pyramid. The goalkeeper’s experience and leadership qualities have made him a valuable addition to Kevin Nolan’s squad since his arrival at Sixfields Stadium.
Northampton manager Kevin Nolan expressed his satisfaction with securing Fitzsimons’ services for the extended period, praising both his on-field contributions and his influence within the squad. “The quality of Ross’s performances speak for themselves and he has made a big impression here, both on and off the field,” Nolan said. “We were keen to extend his time with us, and to secure his services for next season as part of our forward planning and we are pleased that has now been done.”
