Roma sporting director Frederic Massara is working on signing Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin after the player’s agent confirmed the Romanian international wants to join the Giallorossi during the January transfer window, with negotiations ongoing between the clubs over the structure of a potential deal.

Dragusin’s Agent Confirms Romanian Defender Wants Roma Transfer Move

Roma have identified Dragusin as their priority defensive target at the suggestion of manager Gian Piero Gasperini, with the club seeking to strengthen their backline during the current transfer window. The 24-year-old centre-back, who was born in 2002 and previously played for Juventus and Genoa in Serie A, is finding limited playing opportunities at Tottenham and would welcome a return to Italian football.

Dragusin’s agent Florin Manea confirmed the player’s desire to join Roma during an interview with TeleRadioStereo, stating that “Radu wants to come to Roma.” These comments reinforce previous statements made by the agent in recent days, underlining the Romanian defender’s strong interest in moving to the capital club where he believes he will receive more regular first-team football.

Massara has offered Tottenham a loan deal with an option to buy that could become a mandatory buyout clause, but Spurs are holding out for a permanent transfer. The contrasting positions of the two clubs regarding the deal structure means further discussions between the parties are expected in the coming days as Roma attempt to find a compromise that satisfies Tottenham’s demands.

While Roma’s primary focus during this transfer window remains strengthening their attack, with Massara holding talks over a potential deal for Donyell Malen, the addition of Dragusin would provide valuable defensive depth. The Romanian’s Serie A experience and familiarity with Italian football make him an attractive option for Gasperini as the club looks to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.
