Juventus are pursuing a January deal for Celta Vigo full-back Oscar Mingueza, whose contract expires at the end of the 2025-26 season. The Bianconeri face significant challenges completing the transfer as Celta Vigo prefer losing the 26-year-old for free in summer rather than accepting a cut-price January fee.

The Bianconeri are seeking to add another full-back to Luciano Spalletti’s squad, preferably one capable of playing at either wing-back or full-back in a back four. According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, 26-year-old Celta Vigo right-back Mingueza has emerged as their latest target for the January transfer window.

The former Barcelona youth player is due to be out of contract on June 30, making him available for a free transfer in six months and currently able to negotiate with any team. Celta Vigo are still hoping to tie the defender down to a new deal but do not have an agreement in place as things stand.

Juventus are hoping there is still a chance of pulling off a deal for Mingueza in January, but Celta Vigo are reluctant to sell. Barcelona are entitled to a 50% release clause on any transfer fee, which complicates the Spanish club’s position regarding a potential winter departure.

Celta Vigo are said to prefer a situation where they lose Mingueza for free and re-assess their own options in the summer rather than losing him for a cut-price fee in January. The Spanish club are concerned about being left short for the remainder of the season if they allow the versatile defender to depart during the winter transfer window.
