West Ham United are weighing up the possibility of signing Eric Dier after the experienced defender was offered to the club, with talks not advanced but the opportunity being viewed internally as worth exploring given their search for defensive reinforcements for the second half of the season.

West Ham United Consider January Move for Monaco Defender Eric Dier

The 31-year-old remains under contract with AS Monaco until 2028, but his role in the squad has gradually diminished over recent months. Monaco are understood to be open to evaluating offers for the versatile defender should a suitable proposal arrive, potentially creating an avenue for the player to return to the Premier League nearly two years after leaving Tottenham.

West Ham have struggled defensively this season, with inconsistent performances and injuries affecting the back line. Nuno Espirito Santo has made defensive stability a priority, and the club has been actively exploring the market for an experienced centre-back who can slot in immediately.

Dier has made over 360 appearances for Tottenham in various roles, including centre-back, right-back, and defensive midfield. Monaco’s willingness to listen to offers makes the deal financially viable for West Ham, who are aware that signing a defender of Dier’s profile in January is not easy.

Despite reduced minutes at Monaco, Dier has maintained full fitness throughout the winter and is reportedly open to a Premier League return if the right project emerges. West Ham are not the only club informed of Dier’s availability, with a handful of Premier League sides including teams in the lower half of the table monitoring his status, though none have made a concrete approach yet.
