Tottenham step up Thomas Frank talks; Hurzeler named top target
Tottenham have moved into what the report described as a critical phase over the future of Thomas Frank after a 2-1 defeat at home to West Ham United. The loss, which came against a struggling West Ham side, has sharpened worries about Spurs’ dip in form. Senior officials have been holding internal discussions as the club’s sense of instability has grown.
Spurs are 14th in the Premier League and have struggled for consistency under Frank. The Danish coach arrived in north London with a reputation for structure, discipline and overachievement at Brentford, but the report said his Tottenham side have failed to find rhythm, consistency or results. That has prompted debate at board level over whether to stay the course.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham’s board has intensified talks on whether to proceed with Frank or make an immediate change. The report said momentum behind a potential dismissal is gaining traction, with a sacking edging closer unless results improve dramatically and quickly. Tottenham have identified Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler as their top target.
Hürzeler has impressed since taking over at Brighton, with the report highlighting a dynamic, possession-driven style, tactical flexibility and a track record of developing young players. Tottenham reportedly view him as a forward-thinking, ambitious appointment aligned with a long-term vision of building a younger, modern squad and playing expansive, high-energy football. The report noted he is 32.
The report also said Mauricio Pochettino is another name under consideration, with the former Spurs manager still popular among the fanbase. However, it added that any move cannot be immediate because Pochettino is coaching the USA national team while preparing for the World Cup and would only be available afterwards.
