Flamengo are preparing to return this week with a new offer for West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paquetá as they step up efforts to bring the 28-year-old back to Brazil. Journalist Ben Jacobs reported Paquetá has agreed personal terms on a lucrative four-year deal if West Ham approve the transfer. Flamengo’s opening bid was around €40 million, and sources expect a higher proposal soon.

Flamengo ready improved Paquetá offer after terms agreed, West Ham hold firm

Flamengo are expected to submit an improved formal offer for Lucas Paquetá in the coming days as talks continue over a move from West Ham United. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Brazilian club are ready to go back in with a new bid this week after an opening proposal of around €40 million. Paquetá has already agreed personal terms on a four-year contract should West Ham approve the transfer.

Sources close to the negotiations believe Flamengo’s next bid may not rise dramatically, with the club viewing their first offer as competitive for a player eager to return home. Flamengo’s confidence has been helped by Paquetá’s stance, with the midfielder described as fully committed to the proposed contract terms. The deal on the table would run until 2030, which would make him a marquee signing for the club.

West Ham have not accepted any offer and are said to be holding a firm line on their valuation. The Premier League club consider Paquetá one of their most technically gifted and marketable players, adding sensitivity to negotiations. West Ham also want to ensure they can line up adequate replacements, with less than two weeks left before the Premier League transfer window closes.

Flamengo have been targeting Paquetá since last year, and their board see him as a transformational addition, both for his sporting impact and for the club’s national and continental ambitions. Flamengo are pushing aggressively and believe Paquetá’s desire to make the move will help drive talks forward, but there is no guarantee the new offer will meet West Ham’s demands.
