Man United Eye Barcelona Midfielder Marc Casado as Casemiro Exit Nears

Manchester United have identified Marc Casado as a potential summer signing, with Football Insider reporting the Barcelona midfielder is open to pushing for a move to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old is among several options being considered as United prepare for Casemiro’s departure. Casemiro will leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season, according to the report.

Midfield reinforcements have become United’s top priority this year. With Casemiro’s exit described as confirmed and inconsistency in midfield highlighted, the club is determined to reshape the centre of the pitch with younger, more dynamic talent. United have been linked with emerging Premier League midfielders, including Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, Carlos Baleba of Brighton and João Gomes of Wolves.

Casado has found opportunities limited at Barcelona this season, playing only 634 minutes of La Liga action. Despite impressing coaches with his positional intelligence, ball-winning ability and composure in possession, competition remains fierce. The report cited Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong and Fermin López as players occupying key midfield roles, leaving Casado searching for more consistent senior minutes.

United believe Casado’s profile fits what they want in a defensive midfielder, describing him as young and energetic with the capacity to anchor the midfield, progress the ball and press aggressively. The report added that Barcelona’s financial constraints and the player’s desire for a bigger role could create an opening for negotiations, with United believing they may be able to strike a favourable deal.

Casado’s interest in joining United was described as “genuine,” with the report saying he views the club as a place where he could play regularly and continue improving at the highest level. The situation comes as United intensify their search for a long-term replacement in midfield ahead of Casemiro’s expected exit in the summer.
