Barcelona have confirmed that Raphinha has signed a new contract running until June 2030, replacing a deal that was due to expire in 2028. The announcement came on Thursday, two days after the forward scored twice in a 3-0 Champions League win over Aston Villa. According to Footballtoday.com.
Raphinha’s new deal to 2030 cements captain’s central role at Barcelona
Raphinha has produced 19 goals and two assists across all competitions in the 2026-27 campaign, with his output rising since Hansi Flick began using him more regularly as a centre-forward. The 29-year-old originally established himself on the right wing but has since shown he can operate across several attacking positions.
The new deal also follows a shift in his standing. Raphinha was named club captain at the beginning of the current campaign, taking the armband from Marc-Andre ter Stegen, an appointment that reflects his growing influence in the dressing room. Barcelona are determined to compete for domestic and European honours this season.
The timing of the announcement is notable. Raphinha scored twice at Camp Nou on Tuesday after Lamine Yamal had opened the scoring, as Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the Champions League. His brace lifted the club back to a win after losing their previous European fixture.
Since arriving from Leeds United in July 2022 for a fee worth approximately £55 million, having previously played for Rennes and Sporting CP, Raphinha has contributed 94 goals and 62 assists in 190 appearances. His performances have helped Barcelona win seven major trophies, including three La Liga titles.
The agreement, which replaces terms that ran until 2028, keeps him at the club until shortly before his 34th birthday. That could potentially allow him to spend eight seasons in Catalonia, and securing his future is another important decision for Barcelona as they try to keep their forward line settled.
