Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed he rejected a move to Saudi Arabia last summer because achieving success at Old Trafford would be more meaningful than at any other club worldwide. According to Skysports.com.

Fernandes opens up on rejecting Saudi Arabia transfer for unfinished United business

The 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder turned down the opportunity to join a Saudi Arabian club, insisting his decision wasn’t about loyalty but rather his belief in what United can achieve. Fernandes told Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville that being successful at United would provide joy he couldn’t replicate elsewhere in world football.

Fernandes acknowledged he had multiple opportunities to leave Old Trafford over recent years but chose to remain because of his connection to the club. He emphasised his understanding of the fans’ passion and their desire to see United return to winning major trophies after years of disappointment.

The United captain admitted he hasn’t fulfilled his dreams at the club despite winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time there. Fernandes stated he wants to win the Premier League and Champions League with United, acknowledging the difficulty given the consistent success of other top clubs in recent years.

His commitment comes after United endured their worst-ever Premier League finish of 15th last season and lost the Europa League final. Fernandes explained that six years ago United trusted him to help the club, and he feels obligated to repay that faith by achieving everything he wanted when he first arrived.

The midfielder stressed that until his contract expires, he will continue trying to deliver the success that United fans crave. He recognised the challenge ahead, noting that other top clubs have been winning consistently while United have struggled to maintain that level of performance in recent seasons.
