Man Utd Unhappy with Youngster’s Treatment, La Liga Loanee May Return

There are growing concerns at Manchester United regarding the treatment of young midfielder Hannibal Mejbri during his loan spell at Sevilla in La Liga. Despite being sent out on loan in January to gain valuable playing time, the 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact in Spain, leading to the possibility of his return to Old Trafford in the summer.

Mejbri had limited opportunities at Man Utd in the first half of the season, prompting the decision to send him on loan. However, his time at Sevilla has not gone as planned, with the midfielder having started just one league match and making only a few substitute appearances so far.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Manchester United executives are reportedly displeased with how Mejbri has been handled at Sevilla, particularly his lack of playing time. The club had other loan offers from English clubs for the midfielder but chose Sevilla instead.

Sevilla have the option to purchase Mejbri for £17m, but it is unlikely that they will exercise this option given his limited involvement with the team. With Mejbri’s contract at Old Trafford running until 2025, a potential sale in the summer seems probable.

Reports earlier this month suggested that Mejbri’s camp is in ‘disbelief’ over his lack of game time at Sevilla. There were also rumors of a training ground altercation between Mejbri and teammate Mariano shortly after his arrival in Spain, although Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido Carrasco denied these claims.

Carrasco expressed his confidence in Mejbri’s potential, stating, “We are very excited about Hannibal. He is one of the signings from the January window that excites us the most, and we are convinced that Hannibal is going to succeed at Sevilla.” He attributed the difficulties Mejbri may be experiencing to adapting to a new country, culture, and training environment.

Addressing the reported clash with Mariano, Carrasco defended Mejbri, saying, “Hannibal is a fantastic professional who trains well and takes care of himself. It is unfortunate that false stories arise when the team is not performing well. We believe in Hannibal’s abilities and expect him to have a significant role at our club.”

As Mejbri continues to struggle for playing time at Sevilla, the possibility of his return to Manchester United looms large. The youngster’s future remains uncertain, with his lack of opportunities in Spain prompting concerns at Old Trafford about his development and progress in the game.
