AC Milan are considering a summer move for Manchester United defender Leny Yoro, with a deal expected to cost around €50 million. The Rossoneri want more cover at the back and hope agent Jorge Mendes can help open the way to negotiations with United. According to Footballtoday.com.
Milan weigh €50m move for Yoro as defensive depth concerns continue to mount
The interest stems from a thin defensive group. Beyond their starting back three of Strahinja Pavlovic, Koni de Winter and Mario Gila, Milan are short of options. Gabbia is injured, while Fikayo Tomori has been used sparingly by Ruben Amorim.
Jorge Mendes is central to how Milan hope to proceed. He is Yoro’s representative and also acts for Goncalo Ramos and Amorim. Calciomercato reports that Milan have identified the 20-year-old as a key target, with a fee of around €50 million expected.
Yoro’s position at Old Trafford could prove crucial to Milan’s pursuit. There is currently no indication that United are prepared to part ways with him, though they are set for a defensive overhaul. The Frenchman arrived from Lille in 2024, with United seeing off competition from several leading clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.
Yoro has struggled to stand out for the Red Devils, with structural problems on and off the field cited as the reason. The assessment is that he may need a steadier environment to thrive. Milan will believe they can offer one, but their own situation in Italy may prove just as turbulent as United’s.
Yoro is not the only name under consideration. Nottingham Forest’s Ousmane Diomande and Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae are also on the radar, although the South Korean’s salary demands could complicate any deal and Bayern are reluctant to sanction an early departure. Milan have also explored Roma’s Daniele Ghilardi, while Mendes is trying to facilitate a loan for Lecce defender Thiago Gabriel.
