Napoli Seal €20m Giovane Deal From Verona; Juventus Debut Possible
Napoli have officially signed Giovane from Hellas Verona, with the deal widely believed to be worth a total package of €20 million including various performance-related bonuses. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis first revealed the transfer on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, before confirmation followed from the club.
Statements from both Napoli and Verona confirmed the move is a definitive transfer rather than a loan arrangement with an option or obligation to buy. Giovane completed his medical tests in Milan, and the contract was deposited in time for him to be available to potentially make his debut against Juventus on Sunday evening.
The 22-year-old Brazilian joined Verona as a free agent from Corinthians over the summer, making the move a significant profit for the Stadio Bentegodi side. Giovane made an immediate impression in Serie A, scoring three goals and supplying four assists in 21 top-flight appearances.
A versatile striker, Giovane can operate as a centre-forward, a support striker or on the right wing. Napoli could now hand him his first outing in their shirt in Sunday’s meeting with Juventus, after the paperwork was completed ahead of the match.
