Roma are moving closer to completing the signing of Giacomo Raspadori from Atletico Madrid after the Italian international provided definitive approval for the transfer. Sporting director Ricky Massara held a decisive meeting with the player’s representatives on Thursday, effectively unblocking negotiations that had faced minor delays in recent days.
Roma Expected to Complete Raspadori Transfer After Player Gives Final Approval
According to reports, Atletico Madrid have already accepted Roma’s formal offer for the Italian international, with the agreement between clubs never presenting an obstacle to the deal. The forward is currently in Saudi Arabia with Atletico for the Spanish Supercup, but his final approval means the transfer can now proceed to completion without further complications.
Personal terms have been aligned with Roma’s salary parameters, removing any remaining financial hurdles to the move. The breakthrough came after Massara’s meeting with Raspadori’s entourage, which successfully resolved the final details that had caused recent delays in finalising the agreement between all parties involved.
The transfer represents the culmination of Roma’s long-standing pursuit of Raspadori, with Massara working on the operation since last June. The sporting director has maintained constant contact with the player’s representatives since mid-December, demonstrating the club’s sustained commitment to securing the forward’s signature despite reported interest from rivals Lazio.
Roma remained confident in their position throughout the negotiations and have successfully secured their priority target. The move addresses manager Gian Piero Gasperini’s demands to bolster his attacking options, with Raspadori expected to finalise his return to Serie A shortly after concluding his commitments with Atletico in the Middle East.
