Aston Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is reportedly attracting a queue of elite suitors only months after his summer arrival from Parma. Liverpool are said to view him as a long-term successor to Alisson Becker, while Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring his progress, according to TEAMtalk. Suzuki’s rapid Villa impact puts record goalkeeper fee on the horizon
The most specific interest comes from Liverpool, who are reportedly eyeing Suzuki as a long-term replacement for Alisson Becker, according to TEAMtalk. Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be monitoring the Japan international as a potential future signing, although he is not viewed as an imminent priority for them.
Villa paid just £30m for Suzuki, according to a BBC Sport report at the time. It now seems the club expect him to move at some point for what would likely be a record-breaking fee for a goalkeeper. The current mark is the £70m Chelsea paid for Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018.
The 24-year-old has made a superb start at Villa Park since joining from Parma in the summer, adjusting well to the Premier League. He was highly rated at Parma, which had already led to links with a number of top European clubs, and his early displays appear to have strengthened that interest.
The report describes Villa as optimistic about what Suzuki can achieve, stating that “Villa believe Suzuki is arguably the most exciting goalkeeping talent in world football”. It also suggests he is viewed as someone likely to eclipse the existing world record fee for a goalkeeper, which sits behind the expectation of a record-breaking move.
