Bayern Munich are close to securing Dayot Upamecano on a new contract extension worth approximately €20 million per year, with the French defender’s representatives reaching agreement on key figures despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid during recent negotiations.

The 27-year-old centre-back is expected to finalise his contract extension shortly after Bayern Munich worked tirelessly to secure his signature beyond the summer. Upamecano’s current deal expires in six months, but the German champions have successfully negotiated terms that will make him one of the club’s highest earners on the new agreement.
According to reports from Bild, the new contract will include a €65 million exit clause that becomes active in 2027. The clause provides Bayern with protection while offering Upamecano potential future opportunities, with both parties satisfied by the financial structure of the extended deal that secures his long-term commitment to the Allianz Arena.
Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid had expressed strong interest in signing Upamecano and were prepared to meet his salary demands during the negotiation period. However, the French international chose to remain in Munich, where he has established himself as a key component of Vincent Kompany’s defensive setup and feels settled in his current environment.
Upamecano has started 11 of his 12 Bundesliga appearances this season as Bayern sit comfortably at the top of the German league table.
