Hull City Close to Completing Double January Signing of Hirakawa and Collyer
Manager Sergej Jakirovic revealed the deal for former Bristol City utility man Hirakawa is already pending a medical examination on Sunday. The versatile player made what appears likely to be his final appearance for Bristol City when coming on as a second half substitute in the goalless draw with Oxford United on Saturday, ending a spell that saw him make 60 league appearances for the Robins.
Collyer is also poised to move from Manchester United and will undergo his medical sometime this weekend ahead of joining up with the Tigers officially on Monday. The midfielder has been on loan at Championship side West Bromwich Albion in the first half of this season, making three starts and nine appearances off the bench before returning to Old Trafford.
Jakirovic praised Hirakawa’s versatility and immediate availability, telling BBC Radio Humberside that the player brings speed, good technique and more options to the squad. The Hull manager confirmed Hirakawa can play right, left, winger or wing back positions and suggested there is a chance he could be involved in Tuesday’s fixture against Preston at Deepdale as he is ready and in good shape and currently in full training.
The Hull boss expressed confidence that both deals will be completed, stating he believes they have received the green light from Manchester United for Collyer’s transfer. Jakirovic confirmed that everything has been agreed with both clubs and that Collyer is now ready for training, with the midfielder expected to join the squad for training on Monday following his weekend medical examination.
