Jamal Musiala is poised to return to Bayern Munich’s squad this weekend, marking the end of a six-month absence following his serious leg injury. Vincent Kompany confirmed the attacking midfielder could feature against RB Leipzig on Saturday. According to Bbc.com.

Musiala nears Bayern comeback after lengthy rehabilitation from Club World Cup injury

The 22-year-old Germany international has been sidelined since sustaining a broken left leg and dislocated ankle during Bayern’s Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris St-Germain in early July. Musiala collided with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during the match and has been absent from the squad ever since.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany expressed optimism about Musiala’s potential involvement, stating on Friday that “if all goes well today, the plan is that he will be there.” The manager praised Musiala’s positive attitude throughout his recovery, noting the player has “a lot of positive energy coming out of this dark tunnel.”

Musiala’s injury came at the peak of his form, having enjoyed a stellar 2024-25 campaign before the setback. The attacking midfielder scored 21 goals and registered eight assists across all competitions as Bayern secured the Bundesliga title, while also netting three goals in five games for Germany at Euro 2024.

Kompany emphasised there would be no immediate pressure on Musiala to reach peak performance levels following his extended absence. The manager also referenced wing-back Alphonso Davies, who recently returned from a cruciate ligament tear, stating he doesn’t “expect them to decide games for us” but wants “good integration with a good performance.”

The timing of Musiala’s return could prove crucial for his international ambitions, with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon. His comeback represents a significant boost for Bayern as they continue their domestic and European campaigns with one of their key creative forces potentially available once again.
