Carrick’s coaching team, featuring Travis Binnion, Jonny Evans, Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate and Craig Mawson, replaced Darren Fletcher in January and have already overseen victories against Manchester City and Arsenal. The head coach stressed how the two-week period has felt much longer in positive terms, with players quickly understanding expectations.

The former midfielder highlighted the importance of his staff’s creative approach to training sessions, explaining they focus on serving the players and enhancing their confidence. He credited his coaching team for their ability to work with players individually and collectively, building relationships on personal, social and professional levels to extract the best performances.

Addressing Sunday’s opponents, Carrick insisted Fulham represent as big a test as any his team have faced recently. He emphasised the need to show “utmost respect” to any opposition, noting Fulham’s strong form and league position as evidence of the challenge ahead at Old Trafford.

When asked about fan protests planned before the match, Carrick expressed full respect for supporters whilst insisting it wouldn’t affect his team. He praised the “incredible” stadium atmosphere during recent matches, describing the connection between fans and players as “pretty special” and something to build upon moving forward.

The head coach confirmed his confidence in the squad’s mental approach, revealing that training intensity has increased following their recent victories. He noted the positive response from players returning to training after their last match, with focus levels reaching “very, very good” standards as they prepare for another crucial fixture.
