Juventus have revived their pursuit of Jean-Philippe Mateta as Milan delay their decision following the discovery of a knee issue during the striker’s medical examination. The French forward remains in limbo with just hours left in the January transfer window. According to Football-italia.net.
Juventus capitalise on Milan’s Mateta hesitation amid injury concerns
Sky Sport Italia reports that Juventus have made a fresh attempt to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace, proposing different terms than their Serie A rivals Milan. The Bianconeri were already in discussions with the French striker at the beginning of January and have now renewed their efforts as Milan’s deal stalls.
Milan had agreed a permanent transfer worth approximately €30m with Crystal Palace for the 28-year-old striker. However, medical tests conducted in London revealed a knee issue that requires further evaluation by Milan’s doctor in Paris, creating uncertainty over the Rossoneri’s final decision.
Juventus initially attempted to structure a loan deal with an option to buy that could become mandatory under certain conditions. According to Sky Sport Italia, the Bianconeri would only secure Mateta if Milan ultimately decide against completing the signing despite their advanced negotiations.
Both Serie A clubs face significant time pressure to finalise any potential deal. The January transfer window closes today at 20:00 CET, leaving limited opportunity for either Milan to resolve their medical concerns or Juventus to complete their alternative proposal for the Crystal Palace forward.
