Mac Allister’s agent sounds out clubs as Liverpool plan midfield rebuild
Sky Sports Switzerland claims Mac Allister now sees his future away from Anfield, with Liverpool reported to have no plans to offer him a new contract. The club is said to be weighing a new direction for the player by 2027 and is looking to invest a significant sum in a new midfielder next summer.
Mac Allister has reportedly been informed of the club’s intention to reshape its squad, a development the report says adds uncertainty to his Anfield future. His agent has now mobilised, with representatives offering his profile to several clubs, including options in La Liga, Serie A and the Saudi Pro League.
The midfielder has two years remaining on his current deal, and he revealed in September that Liverpool had told him the club could not offer a new one. “I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract, which makes me very, very sad,” he said.
He added that options to leave existed this summer, but felt he was at the right club at that moment, and promised supporters he would give everything until his final day. He also spoke warmly of the city and the fans, saying he knows how special Liverpool is and loves being there.
Mac Allister joined in 2023 for around £35m and helped the club win the Premier League title in his second season. Last season, though, the Argentina international was criticised, alongside many team-mates, for a drop in form, with Arne Slot eventually getting the sack.
The report describes a departure in the summer of 2027 as a concrete possibility, adding that Mac Allister would prefer to stay at Liverpool. Which clubs will turn potential interest into a firm move remains to be seen, but the outlet suggests the saga could become one of the key transfer stories of the window.
