Harborough Town have signed striker Kyle Hudlin, who stands 6ft 9in and is available for Saturday’s FA Cup first-round tie at Leyton Orient. The 26-year-old, who most recently played in Vietnam with Nam Dinh, is the latest recruit with EFL experience at the Leicestershire-based club. According to Bbc.com.
Harborough add EFL pedigree and height with Hudlin ahead of Orient cup tie
Harborough manager Mitch Austin sees the signing as a way to add punch to his front line, telling the club website that Hudlin’s attributes “will give us more firepower going forward”. At 6ft 9in (2.06m), the forward is one of the tallest outfield players in the world, and Austin said he is delighted to welcome him.
Austin’s interest predates the move. He recalls watching Hudlin score for Solihull in the promotion final at the London Stadium and has followed his career since. They met a few months ago through a mutual friend, and Austin was naturally interested on learning the player was a free agent, noting that Hudlin’s character stood out before they discussed football.
Birmingham-born Hudlin scored 17 goals in 69 appearances for Solihull Moors, including the opener in the 2022 National League play-off final. He joined Huddersfield Town that summer and gained experience in the Championship, with loan spells at AFC Wimbledon, Burton Albion and Newport County before leaving in July 2025. Most recently he played for Nam Dinh in Vietnam’s top flight.
Hudlin follows two other players with Football League backgrounds to Harborough in recent months. Former Wigan Athletic winger Michael Jacobs and ex-Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga both arrived before him, which points to a pattern in the club’s recent recruitment.
Harborough, of the National League North, last reached this stage of the FA Cup in 2024-25, when Reading beat them in the second round. Hudlin is available for Saturday’s first-round tie at League One club Leyton Orient.
