Barcelona have reportedly begun outlining a long-term managerial plan that includes Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta and Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique as potential future options. A report in Spain said the Catalan club’s immediate focus remains on stability, with Hansi Flick still backed by the board to continue leading a rebuild. Any move for Arteta or Enrique was described as a later consideration, not an imminent change.

Barcelona Reportedly Track Arteta and Luis Enrique While Backing Flick

Barcelona have quietly started mapping out their long-term coaching strategy, with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and PSG coach Luis Enrique named as two figures admired by the club, according to Diario Sport. The report said both are viewed internally as ideal candidates to lead the team in the future, even as Barcelona’s current priority is to avoid further upheaval on the touchline.

The Spanish club are said to want Hansi Flick to remain in charge for as long as possible. Despite recent turbulence and the constant pressure tied to Barcelona’s performance expectations, the report stated the hierarchy still believe Flick is the right man to guide the team through its current stage. He has been tasked with overseeing a long-term rebuild shaped by tight financial conditions and academy integration, while also facing the challenge of competing with Real Madrid.

Arteta is described in the report as an “aspirational target,” with Barcelona impressed by his work at Arsenal. The account said he took over a side in crisis and turned them into title challengers and regulars in the Champions League. Arteta, a former Barcelona academy graduate, has previously spoken about his emotional links to the club, but the report added he remains deeply committed to his long-term project in north London.

Any attempt to bring Arteta to Camp Nou was characterised as a future pursuit rather than an immediate move, and one that would require Arsenal’s approval. Enrique is also being monitored, with Barcelona keeping an eye on his contract situation and his relationship with PSG. The report noted Barcelona recognise that persuading Enrique to return would only be possible if circumstances aligned perfectly.
