Brighton interim manager Chris Roberts has paid an emotional tribute to Rado Vidosic following the death of the club’s head of women’s and girls’ coaching. The 64-year-old had been battling cancer before his passing was announced on Tuesday. According to Bbc.com.
Roberts honours “incredible” Brighton coaching legend Rado Vidosic
Roberts described Vidosic as “one of the most incredible men I’ve ever met” during what he called a “really challenging and sad week” for the football club. The interim manager praised Vidosic’s infectious personality and “amazing football brain”, noting how he made people smile and was great company.
Vidosic had joined Brighton in January 2025, working alongside his son Dario who manages the women’s first team. Before arriving at the club, he spent six years with Melbourne City in Australia, progressing from academy technical director to women’s head coach and eventually managing the men’s team to the 2022-23 A-League regular-season title.
Roberts has been leading Brighton’s Women’s Super League campaign since Dario Vidosic returned to Australia earlier this month to be with family. The interim manager emphasised there is no timeframe for Dario’s return, with the club’s priority being to support him and his family during this difficult period.
Reflecting on Vidosic’s impact at Brighton, Roberts highlighted his mentoring abilities and unique connection with players. “He had a unique ability to get close to the players and bring the best out of them,” Roberts explained, adding that Vidosic worked hard on the methodology he shared with his son and made everyone better.
Brighton host London City Lionesses on Sunday, where fans are expected to pay tribute to Vidosic’s memory. Roberts acknowledged the squad has had to prepare for the important fixture while dealing with their grief, emphasising the need for collective support both on and off the pitch during this challenging time.
