Roberts will be supported by first-team coach Arthur Brammer during the interim period, with the club confirming the arrangement on Thursday. The assistant head coach brings previous experience as interim manager, having fulfilled the role at Everton at the end of the 2021-22 season when he stepped up to guide the team through a transitional period.

Vidosic joined Brighton in 2024 and led them to a fifth-place finish in the Women’s Super League in his first season at the club. The manager’s absence means he will miss Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round fixture against Nottingham Forest, which kicks off at 13:00 GMT, with Roberts taking charge of team selection and tactical preparations for the match.

Brighton’s women’s and girls’ managing director Zoe Johnson emphasized the club’s support for their manager during this difficult period. “As a club, our priority is to support Dario at this difficult time. We ask that his and his family’s privacy is respected,” Johnson said in a statement released by the club on Thursday afternoon.

Johnson also expressed confidence in the interim coaching arrangement, stating that Roberts and Brammer have the full backing of the squad. “Chris and Arthur will have the full backing of the players, staff and the wider club during this interim period,” she confirmed, with Brighton currently sitting eighth in the Women’s Super League table as they navigate this transitional phase.
