Manchester United shocked Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as Matheus Cunha’s sensational 87th-minute strike sealed the win. Arsenal led through a Lisandro Martinez own goal but were pegged back by Bryan Mbeumo and fell behind to Patrick Dorgu’s superb finish. Mikel Merino pulled the hosts level late on before Cunha curled in a dramatic winner.

Cunha came off the bench to decide a breathless Premier League contest, curling an 87th-minute finish into the corner from 25 yards to give Michael Carrick’s Manchester United a 3-2 victory over Arsenal. The match, played Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, drew an attendance of 60,296 as Arsenal saw their lead at the top cut to four points.

Arsenal opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Lisandro Martinez diverted Martin Odegaard’s cross-shot into his own net. But the hosts handed United a route back into the game as Martin Zubimendi’s poor pass allowed Bryan Mbeumo to run through and beat David Raya for the 37th-minute equaliser.

United carried that momentum into the second half and went ahead in the 50th minute, with Patrick Dorgu crashing a superb effort in off the bar. Arsenal struggled to regain composure, and Arteta tried to change the flow by making a quadruple substitution before the hour-mark, but the hosts continued to flounder for long periods.

Arsenal finally restored parity in the 84th minute when Merino prodded the ball over the line from a Bukayo Saka corner, continuing a run of set-piece goals for the hosts. The equaliser briefly lifted the Emirates, but United struck again as Cunha’s late effort silenced the stadium and sparked celebrations among the visitors.

The win followed a 2-0 victory over Manchester City in Carrick’s first match in charge last weekend, and Sky Sports reported it continued a dream start for the head coach. For Arsenal, it extended a run that includes goalless draws against Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, leaving them without a win in three Premier League games.
