Valencia are reportedly preparing to terminate Harvey Elliott’s loan, with Liverpool said to see no future for him at Anfield. A report claims the club intend to sell him, leaving the 23-year-old facing a difficult search for his next move. According to Football365.com.
Elliott’s Valencia loan unravels as Liverpool reportedly plan to sell
Football Insider claims Valencia are planning to “terminate” the loan and are “actively exploring” ways to return Elliott to Liverpool before the winter transfer window. The report says there is a growing expectation he will be back at Anfield in January, a development sources describe as setting him back to “square one”.
Liverpool are understood to see no long-term future for Elliott on Merseyside and would look to sell him ahead of his contract expiring in 2028. That would follow a decision made before this season, when new head coach Andoni Iraola gave him a chance to re-establish himself but it was ultimately concluded he should leave.
The numbers from Spain explain Valencia’s reported frustration. Elliott is yet to make a start and has played only 152 minutes in six substitute appearances. His last outing ended in a red card, after two bookings in a 20-minute cameo against Villarreal.
His difficulties have not been confined to the pitch. In September, Spanish media accused him of being “overweight” as he builds match fitness, and he has since been given a 0/10 rating for one of his poor appearances.
The slide is stark given where his career stood in 2025, when he was the best player at the U21 European Championships as England won the tournament. That form earned a loan to Aston Villa with a £35m conditional buy option, which Villa avoided triggering by not playing him. It is fair to assume his options in January will be far fewer than they were in the summer.
