Norwich boss Philippe Clement has confirmed the club will not pursue another left-back signing in January despite Manchester United loanee Harry Amass suffering a serious training injury that will sideline him for an extended period. According to Sports.yahoo.com.
Norwich boss rules out January reinforcements despite Amass injury setback
The 18-year-old defender sustained the injury during Norwich’s final training session before Saturday’s defeat at Middlesbrough. Clement revealed the incident occurred in the dying seconds of training and described it as serious enough to warrant a lengthy recovery period.
Amass had made minimal impact since joining Norwich, featuring for just 15 minutes as a substitute in Monday’s victory over Coventry. The young full-back had previously spent the first half of the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday before making the switch to Carrow Road.
“Harry, in the dying seconds of training, got an injury,” Clement told BBC Radio Norfolk. “But it looks to be serious and that he will be out for a long time. He’s on loan from Man U so it’s also important to speak with them first.”
Despite the setback, Clement dismissed suggestions that Norwich would seek reinforcements in the transfer market. The Belgian manager insisted his current squad possesses sufficient depth to manage without additional signings before the window closes.
“No, we’re not going to take in another left full-back, so we will solve it with the squad that’s here because we already have four left full-backs on the pay roll,” Clement confirmed. Norwich will coordinate with Manchester United regarding Amass’s rehabilitation process.
