Barcelona’s 4-2 Champions League win at Slavia Praha came with a fresh injury worry after Pedri was forced off in the second half. Barcelona’s Pedri suffers right thigh injury in 4-2 win at Slavia Praha

Barcelona midfielder Pedri was forced off injured during the club’s 4-2 Champions League victory over Slavia Praha. The incident came in the second half with the score level at 2-2, just over 15 minutes after the restart, as Barcelona tried to regain control of the match.

Pedri suddenly collapsed on the pitch and immediately clutched the back of his right thigh, prompting immediate concern. Several Barcelona players gathered around him as club doctor Ricard Pruna signalled to the bench for a substitution. Pedri was unable to continue and left the field limping.

Further tests are set to be carried out once the squad returns to Barcelona. According to AS, initial impressions on the night pointed to a possible tear, although there was later cautious optimism that the injury might not be as severe as first feared. Even in the best-case scenario, Pedri could still be sidelined for at least three weeks.

A three-to-four-week absence cannot be ruled out if the diagnosis is confirmed, with the report noting his history of similar muscular problems can lead to added caution in recovery timelines. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is already dealing with other absentees, including Gavi and Andreas Christensen.

Frenkie de Jong will also miss Barcelona’s final Champions League group-stage match against Copenhagen after picking up a yellow card in Prague. The booking means he is suspended because of accumulated cautions.
