Real Madrid’s preparations for Sunday’s Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona have been disrupted by fitness concerns over three first-team players, with Antonio Rudiger, Rodrygo and Raul Asencio all considered doubtful pending medical examinations scheduled for Friday.

Rudiger’s situation is being treated with particular caution after the German defender played through discomfort in his left knee during the semifinal clash. Despite not being fully fit, he managed to complete 69 minutes before being substituted as a precautionary measure to avoid further risk to the injury.

Asencio also experienced physical problems during the derby, particularly after a demanding duel with Alexander Sorloth that left the defender showing clear signs of muscle discomfort. He was repeatedly seen stretching the back of his right thigh as the match progressed, with the physical toll eventually forcing him to signal that he could not continue playing.

Rodrygo represents the third injury concern after the Brazilian forward took a knock following a late clash with Julian Alvarez. The goal scorer went to ground after the collision and was replaced in the 87th minute as a precautionary substitution, despite having found the net for Real Madrid’s second goal earlier in the match.

Manager Xabi Alonso addressed the substitutions after the semifinal, explaining that both defenders were struggling physically. “Antonio had limitations with his knee. He made a great effort and could not take it anymore. Raul was also suffering, and we needed refreshment in that defensive line,” Alonso confirmed in his post-match assessment.

While all three players remain doubtful for Sunday’s final, there is optimism within the Real Madrid camp that their situations will become clearer following Friday’s medical assessments. The club’s medical staff are expected to make careful evaluations to ensure no unnecessary risks are taken in the high-stakes El Clasico encounter, with final decisions on availability dependent on how each player feels physically.
