Roma defender Mario Hermoso is expected to spend around a month on the sidelines after suffering a second-degree strain to his hip flexors, according to reports in Italy. The setback has left Roma short of options at centre-back and could push the club back into negotiations with Tottenham over Romania international Radu Dragusin as it weighs its next steps.

Roma are set to be without defender Mario Hermoso for around a month after he suffered a second-degree strain to his hip flexors, according to reports from multiple outlets in Italy. The injury is expected to sideline the defender and has immediately raised questions over Roma’s depth at centre-back for the coming weeks.
The absence is reported to have left Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini short on options in the middle of defence. As a result, Italian reports say the Giallorossi could return to discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential move for centre-back Radu Dragusin, the former Genoa and Juventus Next Gen defender.
Roma have already held talks with the north London club about Dragusin. Reports last week said Roma suggested a loan move until the end of the season, with a potential obligation to buy that would depend on Champions League qualification.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma are now evaluating their next steps in their discussions with Tottenham as they assess how to respond to Hermoso’s injury setback.
