Milan monitor Saelemaekers adductor issue ahead of Serie A trip to Roma
Alexis Saelemaekers has suffered an injury to his left adductor and is in doubt for Milan’s next Serie A match against Roma. Multiple Italian sources, including Gazzetta, reported the Belgian winger’s condition will be monitored over the course of the week as the club assesses his availability for Sunday’s game at the Stadio Olimpico.
Saelemaekers was forced to come off during Milan’s 1-0 win against Lecce. The report said Massimiliano Allegri is likely to look at alternatives on the right wing if Saelemaekers does not recover in time, with Zachary Athekame or Ruben Loftus-Cheek cited as possible options in that role.
The 25-year-old has been a regular starter for Milan this season, with two goals and five assists in 25 appearances across all competitions. His form has made him a key figure in Allegri’s side, leaving Milan waiting on updates as they plan for the weekend’s match in Rome.
Saelemaekers is also set to face his former club if he is fit, having returned to Milan last summer after a one-season loan spell at Roma. The report added that he has recently extended his contract with Milan until June 2031.
