West Ham are considering a £21-25 million move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface after his AC Milan transfer collapsed due to failed medical examinations on his right knee.

West Ham Weigh Up £21m Boniface Move Following Failed Milan Medical

West Ham United have been given an opportunity to sign Victor Boniface for around £21-25 million after the striker’s proposed move to AC Milan fell through due to medical concerns over his right knee. The 24-year-old Nigerian international failed his medical examination with the Italian giants, prompting Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes to officially confirm that Boniface would not be joining Milan and would return to continue training with the German club.

The Hammers are understood to be exploring their options cautiously, with club sources suggesting they view the potential signing as a “gamble” given Boniface’s documented injury history. Reports indicate that West Ham are currently resisting making a formal move, though the situation could change before the transfer window closes.

AC Milan’s collapsed deal included a €5 million loan fee with a €24-25 million option to buy, establishing the market valuation for a player who has scored 32 goals and provided 12 assists in 61 Bundesliga appearances over two seasons. Despite his injury concerns, Boniface’s proven track record in Germany’s top flight makes him an attractive proposition for clubs willing to accept the medical risks involved.

Leverkusen maintain that Boniface’s physical condition is improving and insist he will remain at the club, focusing on player development rather than immediate sales. Meanwhile, Graham Potter had previously suggested West Ham didn’t need additional strikers, though recent lineup changes suggest the club may be reconsidering their attacking options before the window closes.

No official confirmation has emerged regarding whether West Ham will submit a formal bid, with personal terms, contract length, and medical arrangements yet to be disclosed. The transfer’s outcome depends entirely on whether West Ham decide to gamble on Boniface’s fitness and whether Leverkusen would entertain such an approach at this stage of the window.
