Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Turkish club Eyüpspor for the loan transfer of defender Tyrell Malacia for the 2025-26 season, with the deal pending finalization before Turkey’s September 12 transfer deadline.
Tyrell Malacia Set for Eyüpspor Loan as Manchester United Reach Agreement
Manchester United and Turkish Super Lig side Eyüpspor have reportedly reached an agreement for the loan transfer of left-back Tyrell Malacia, according to Turkish football journalist Resat Can Özbudak of YS TV. The 26-year-old defender, who has not featured under manager Ruben Amorim this season, is set to join the Turkish club on a season-long loan for 2025-26, with both parties working to finalize the deal before Turkey’s transfer window closes on September 12.
The move represents a crucial opportunity for Malacia to secure regular playing time after being frozen out at Old Trafford, having made just eight appearances last season following his recovery from a long-term knee injury. Eyüpspor are reportedly eager to strengthen their defensive options quickly, viewing the Dutch international as a valuable addition to their squad as they prepare for the upcoming Super Lig campaign.
Malacia’s potential departure follows a collapsed loan move to Spanish club Elche, which fell through due to disagreements over a buy clause in the proposed deal. The defender remains the last player from United’s so-called “bomb squad” still awaiting a move away, with teammates including Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho having already departed the club during this transfer window.
The agreement aligns with Manchester United’s broader strategy of reducing squad size and wage commitments, following the parallel loan deal that saw goalkeeper Andre Onana move to Turkish club Trabzonspor. Reports suggest United are willing to sanction Malacia’s temporary exit to provide the player with opportunities while alleviating financial pressure on the squad.
While the agreement has been reported by credible Turkish sources, no official confirmation has been released by either Manchester United or Eyüpspor. The deal’s completion remains dependent on finalizing contractual details and any necessary administrative procedures before the Turkish transfer deadline, with both clubs having limited time to complete the formalities for what would be Malacia’s first loan move since joining United from Feyenoord.
