Jack Grealish has revealed how David Moyes and his loan move to Everton have transformed his fortunes after a difficult final season at Manchester City, with the 30-year-old winger rediscovering his best form on Merseyside and helping the Toffees climb away from relegation danger.
Grealish Credits Moyes and Everton Move for Restoring Lost Confidence
Grealish has become a key figure in Everton’s impressive turnaround under Moyes, contributing to eight away victories since the Scottish manager’s return to Goodison Park in late January.
The England international managed just 715 Premier League minutes at Manchester City last season, scoring only one goal as his confidence plummeted during Pep Guardiola’s worst campaign on record.
The winger’s renaissance reached a peak during Tuesday’s victory at Bournemouth, where he scored his first Premier League goal from outside the box since November 2020.
Grealish was also instrumental in Everton’s memorable triumph at Old Trafford last week, their first victory at Manchester United since 2013 despite playing with ten men for most of the match.
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports at the launch of PUMA’s new FUTURE 9 boot, Grealish praised Moyes for restoring his belief and providing the tactical freedom to express his creativity.
The former Aston Villa star emphasised how the manager’s trust has allowed him to rediscover the enjoyment in his game, describing the move as “the perfect fit” after extensive summer discussions with Moyes.
Everton’s transformation under Moyes has seen them move comfortably into mid-table safety, allowing players like Grealish to showcase their technical abilities alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, James Garner and Iliman Ndiaye.
The Toffees have adopted a more progressive approach compared to previous seasons when survival dominated their thinking and tactical approach.
Grealish admitted the summer required intense reflection and hard work to overcome the mental challenges of limited playing time at City.
The 30-year-old expressed his desire to help Everton achieve cup success, stating his ambition to win silverware with a club he believes deserves to lift trophies after years of struggle and disappointment.
