Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has been handed a four-match suspension and fined £15,000 by the Football Association after admitting to spitting at Leeds United supporters during the Clarets’ 2-0 victory at Turf Moor on 18 October, ruling him out until 30 December.

An FA regulatory commission imposed the punishment following a hearing, with the governing body stating that Mejbri breached the laws of the game through abusive and indecent behaviour.
The former Manchester United academy graduate will miss crucial fixtures against Newcastle United, Fulham, Bournemouth and Everton as Burnley battle relegation from the Premier League.
