Ferran Torres delivered one of the most decisive individual performances of the season as Barcelona powered past Real Betis in a dramatic 5-3 victory, with the Spanish forward scoring a superb hat-trick to take his La Liga tally to an impressive 11 goals in just 15 league appearances.
Torres Hat-Trick Inspires Barcelona to Thrilling 5-3 Victory Over Real Betis
The Spanish forward walked away with the match ball after his explosive display against Betis, but downplayed the significance of his scoring statistics despite reaching double figures for the campaign. Speaking after the match, Torres reflected on both the joy of the achievement and his hunger for more, stating that his motivation runs much deeper than individual records.
Torres made it clear that while a hat-trick is special, he remains focused on team success rather than personal milestones. “You don’t score a hat trick every day, but the statistic of 11 goals doesn’t mean much to me,” he said. “I knew I could be a starter at Barca, fight for a place, and I’m going for many more goals. My job is to keep making it difficult for the coach.”
Despite being the star of the night, Torres was quick to shift the spotlight away from himself and onto the collective effort. He stressed how vital the victory was, especially given the quality of the opposition and the difficulty of playing at Betis. “The most important thing, though, is winning on such a difficult pitch,” Torres explained. “As I always say, Betis is a direct rival at the top, one of those teams that makes things very difficult, and we knew we had to compete from the first minute.”
The Barcelona forward praised his team’s response after falling behind early in the match, highlighting their mental strength as a key factor in the victory. “It was very important to win, and we knew how to react to their early goal. I think the most important thing was the reaction to the first goal. That’s one of our keys to success,” Torres added.
Torres was also asked about Lamine Yamal’s role in attacking midfield, a position the teenage sensation handled with remarkable ease despite his young age. The Spanish forward revealed that this tactical adjustment had not been worked on extensively during the week, which made Yamal’s performance even more impressive. “I don’t think so, but he’s such a talented player that he plays there and does well. A player like Lamine adapts easily to any situation,” Torres concluded.
