Manchester United have been informed that AS Roma will accept £52 million for midfielder Manu Kone, with the French international deemed a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s system as the Red Devils plan a midfield overhaul this summer.
Manchester United Face £52 Million Fee for AS Roma Midfielder Manu Kone
Roma are determined to retain Kone until the summer despite significant interest from European clubs, with the Italian side setting a fee of 60 million euros for the midfielder who remains under contract until 2029. The high valuation reflects competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid, who are also monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation at the Stadio Olimpico.
Italian journalist Francesca Teodori claims a deal between United and Roma is already a certainty, stating she has been told by multiple sources that Kone will leave Roma in June to join Manchester United. The journalist suggested the transfer could be connected to Joshua Zirkzee’s potential move, with Kone possibly included as part of a broader agreement between the clubs.
United are actively seeking midfield reinforcements as they look to sign a long-term replacement for Casemiro, while Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have all been linked with potential exits. Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton have also been heavily linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent months as Amorim plans his squad rebuild.
The club’s pursuit of Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta faces complications due to manager Oliver Glasner’s uncertain future at Selhurst Park. Palace want any incoming manager to have input on Mateta’s future if Glasner departs at the end of the season, creating what has been described as a major problem for United’s transfer plans.
