Juventus have put talks with West Ham midfielder Guido Rodriguez on hold while manager Luciano Spalletti assesses other options, with the Serie A club now targeting Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi whose contract expires in June according to reports from Gazzetta and Sky Sport Italia.

Juventus Pause Rodriguez Talks While Targeting Bournemouth’s Senesi

Juventus are actively seeking a central midfielder this month and had identified West Ham’s Guido Rodriguez as a primary target for the January transfer window. The Bianconeri were interested in securing the Argentine on a dry loan deal, with Rodriguez reportedly open to moving to the Allianz Stadium where he hopes to gain more playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Rodriguez’s motivation for the potential move centres on convincing Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni to include him in the national squad for the upcoming World Cup. The midfielder sees regular first-team football at Juventus as crucial for maintaining his international prospects, having been part of Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad in Qatar.

However, Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta report that Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is in no rush to complete the Rodriguez signing and wants to evaluate alternative options before finalising any deal with the West Ham midfielder. The Italian tactician is taking a measured approach to the club’s January recruitment strategy.

Gazzetta indicates that Juventus could take at least 10 days to reach a final decision on their next central midfielder signing. During this period, the club have also identified Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi as a potential target, with the Argentine defender having just six months remaining on his current contract at the Vitality Stadium.

Senesi’s contractual situation has attracted interest from multiple clubs across Europe, with Spanish and English sides also monitoring the defender’s availability. The 27-year-old’s contract status makes him an attractive proposition for Juventus, who could potentially secure his services on a free transfer at the end of the current season.
