Roma face increased competition for Marseille striker Robinio Vaz as Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for the 17-year-old forward. Manchester United, PSG, AC Milan and Napoli have also made enquiries for the highly-rated prospect, who has refused to extend his contract with the French club.
German Giants Enter Three-Way Battle With Roma for Marseille Striker Vaz
Roma’s management is moving quickly to deliver the offensive reinforcements requested by manager Gian Piero Gasperini, with Robinio Vaz emerging as a primary target. The 2007-born striker has attracted significant attention in recent hours, despite Sporting Director Frederic Massara describing the move as “quite unlikely” before the match against Sassuolo due to fierce competition from rival clubs.
The relationship between Roma and Marseille could provide the Giallorossi with a preferential path in negotiations. Two former Roma players, Benatia and Balzaretti, are currently at Marseille, strengthening diplomatic channels between the clubs. This connection may prove crucial as Roma attempt to navigate the competitive transfer market for the young striker’s signature.
Vaz’s contractual situation at Marseille favors a potential departure, with the striker having refused to extend his current deal with the French club. According to Il Messaggero, this makes a separation likely, despite Marseille’s initial valuation of close to 30 million euros. The deal could be completed for between 20 and 22 million euros, partly because Marseille must pay 15 percent of any future resale fee to Sochaux.
The presence of high-caliber competitors presents a significant obstacle for Massara’s transfer plans. Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United have all made moves for Vaz, while PSG, AC Milan and Napoli have submitted enquiries. An off-market offer from a Premier League club could potentially derail Roma’s pursuit of the promising forward, adding urgency to their negotiations with Marseille.
