Manchester United have made an enquiry for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported, as the club plans a wider midfield rebuild for 2026. Man United Make Enquiry for Barcelona’s Casadó as Summer Plans Take Shape

Manchester United have officially made an enquiry for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó, according to Mundo Deportivo. The 22-year-old has drawn attention for his profile as a holding midfielder and is also on Wolves’ shortlist ahead of the summer window. Spanish reports said Casadó is being monitored by clubs searching for undervalued young midfield talent with top-level potential.

Casadó is valued internally for attributes including maturity, pressing intelligence and ball-winning ability, the report said. United’s interest is described as part of a wider midfield rebuild being planned for 2026. Despite the enquiry, a move in January is viewed as highly unlikely, with any potential progress expected to depend on Barcelona opening negotiations in the summer.

The report added that United remain linked with several other midfielders, naming Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, Carlos Baleba of Brighton, Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest and Wolves’ Joao Gomes. Adding a midfielder has become a priority at Old Trafford due to issues within the current squad, with Casemiro’s contract running down and Manuel Ugarte described as having failed to live up to expectations at the club.

United’s hierarchy have decided not to sanction major deals until a permanent manager is appointed in the summer, following the departure of Ruben Amorim and the interim arrival of Michael Carrick, according to the report. Carrick is set to help evaluate the squad, but significant transfer activity is expected only after the new long-term manager is chosen, with United expected to be among the first clubs to push if Barcelona open talks.
