Roma midfielder Manu Koné faces month out after Milan injury scare

Roma midfielder Manu Koné has been diagnosed with a second-degree muscle strain and is expected to miss roughly a month, according to several Italian reports, including Sky Sport Italia. Exams carried out on Monday revealed the injury in the 24-year-old’s right thigh, leaving Roma short of the Frenchman for the next stretch of fixtures.

Koné picked up the problem during Sunday night’s Serie A match against AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico. He was forced to come off in the 1-1 draw, with the substitution required after the midfielder was unable to continue following the issue sustained in the game.

The injury interrupts a season in which Koné has produced two goals and one assist in 29 appearances across all competitions. Roma signed him in the summer of 2024 from Borussia Monchengladbach in a deal reported at €18 million.

Roma’s draw with Milan kept the club third in the Serie A standings, nine points behind leaders Inter. The Giallorossi are level on 43 points with Napoli, with Juventus in fifth one point back, tightening the margins as Roma manage Koné’s absence.
