Fiorentina sound out West Ham over Walker-Peters and Magassa move
Gazzetta dello Sport reported Fiorentina have started discussions with West Ham to explore signing Kyle Walker-Peters and Soungoutou Magassa. The Turin-based newspaper said Fiorentina reached out to West Ham directors to check whether the two players could be made available. The report added Fiorentina are targeting additions in midfield and wide areas as they look to strengthen the squad.
Walker-Peters, 28, has scored one goal and provided one assist in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, according to the report. He can be used at right-back or left-back, with Gazzetta noting his versatility could offer depth for Fiorentina after the club recently changed to a four-man defence. Fiorentina are seeking options to bolster the flanks as part of their January plans.
Magassa, 22, has also contributed one goal and one assist, but in 15 appearances. The report said the Frenchman has played 808 minutes across all competitions this term and could be utilised by Fiorentina either as a central midfielder or as a centre-back. Fiorentina’s interest was described as part of a push to add both athleticism and flexibility in central areas.
Fiorentina are currently in the relegation zone in Serie A, but just one point below safety. The Tuscans have already signed Marco Brescianini, Manor Solomon, Giovanni Fabbian and Jack Harrison during the January transfer window, according to the report, and are continuing to look for further reinforcements as the market remains open.
