Manchester United are planning a comprehensive goalkeeper department restructure this summer, with Andre Onana among three shot-stoppers expected to leave Old Trafford permanently. The club’s decision to loan Onana to Trabzonspor while promoting Senne Lammens appears increasingly vindicated. According to Caughtoffside.com.

Man United plan goalkeeper exodus as Onana departure leads summer overhaul

Andre Onana’s permanent departure from Manchester United looks increasingly certain after his disappointing loan spell at Turkish side Trabzonspor. The Sun reports that the 29-year-old Cameroon international will leave Old Trafford permanently, with his poor performances both at United and during his current loan making his exit unsurprising.

The goalkeeper department shake-up extends beyond Onana, with backup keepers Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton also facing uncertain futures at the club. United’s summer signing Senne Lammens has established himself as the new number one, making the decision to loan Onana appear increasingly shrewd by the club’s hierarchy.

However, 22-year-old Radek Vitek could return to provide competition after an impressive loan spell with Championship side Bristol City. The young prospect looks unlikely to challenge for the first-choice position immediately but could serve as a capable backup to Lammens in United’s restructured goalkeeping setup.

United face the challenge of securing a decent fee for Onana after their significant initial investment in bringing him from Inter Milan. His career trajectory has declined markedly since leaving the Italian club, potentially limiting his market appeal despite previous success in Serie A with Inter.

Italian clubs remain interested in Onana’s services, with the goalkeeper reportedly open to returning to Serie A. His former club Inter, alongside Juventus, Napoli, and Roma, have all shown interest in securing his signature for the upcoming transfer window.
