Dominik Szoboszlai’s agent has moved to quell speculation about a potential departure from Liverpool, insisting they are “not looking outside or elsewhere” despite his national team manager claiming Real Madrid remains the player’s ultimate ambition. According to Football365.com.
Szoboszlai camp shuts down exit talk as Liverpool prepare lucrative new deal
The 25-year-old midfielder found himself at the centre of transfer speculation after Hungary boss Marco Rossi publicly declared that joining Real Madrid was Szoboszlai’s “one dream” since childhood. Rossi told Qatari outlet Winwin that the Liverpool star had harboured ambitions of playing for the Spanish giants throughout his career.
However, agent Matyas Esterhazy has firmly dismissed any immediate departure plans, emphasising their focus remains on Liverpool’s current campaigns. Speaking to Hungary’s NB1, he stated it was “not correct” to discuss summer moves while the club competes across the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
Esterhazy highlighted Liverpool’s status as “one of the biggest clubs in the world” and stressed Szoboszlai’s important position within the squad structure. The representative’s comments come as Liverpool reportedly prepare to offer the Hungarian international a significant contract extension worth close to £250,000 per week.
The proposed deal would see Szoboszlai earn substantially more than recent signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, who command £200,000 and £280,000 weekly respectively. Liverpool’s willingness to meet these expectations reflects their determination to secure the midfielder beyond his current 2028 contract expiry date.
Szoboszlai’s emergence as a consistent performer and leader during what the source describes as a “pretty dismal season” has heightened Liverpool’s urgency to finalise new terms. The club’s proactive approach also addresses growing international interest in the Hungary captain’s services.
