Manchester United prospect JJ Gabriel is reported to have snubbed an offer from Paris Saint-Germain because of a strong desire to play in Spain. Real Madrid now look the likeliest destination for the teenager, who is yet to play a competitive senior fixture for the club. According to Caughtoffside.com.
Gabriel’s Spain preference puts Real Madrid ahead in chase for teenager
Spanish outlet Sport reports that Gabriel’s wish to play in Spain lay behind his decision to snub the offer from Paris Saint-Germain. He was seemingly not won over by the idea of French football, and the same outlet also notes that Bayern Munich had previously been ruled out.
That leaves a possible contest in La Liga for the signature of the 16-year-old. Real Madrid and Barcelona are the clubs in the frame, although Barca chief Deco has perhaps not committed to a deal as strongly as the other side.
Los Blancos appear ready to commit fully and satisfy Gabriel’s sizeable financial demands, which leaves them in the strongest position. That willingness is notable for a player who has not yet made a competitive senior appearance for United but is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in their academy.
It looks as though Gabriel has decided to leave Old Trafford to continue his development elsewhere, and he is attracting plenty of interest. For the Red Devils, losing an academy prospect of this standing before he has featured in a competitive senior fixture would be a significant setback.
