Accrington Stanley have completed a loan move for Chesterfield midfielder Luke Butterfield until the end of the season. The 22-year-old arrived at Chesterfield in the summer after leaving Everton and has featured sparingly in league action this campaign. Stanley manager John Doolan said the switch offers Butterfield a chance to kick-start his career, with a possible debut at Walsall on Saturday.
Accrington land Chesterfield midfielder Butterfield on loan to season end
Accrington Stanley have signed Chesterfield midfielder Luke Butterfield on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old joined the Spireites in the summer after being released by Everton, but has made only three substitute appearances in the league this campaign.
Butterfield featured for Everton’s under-21s in the EFL Trophy last season, making two appearances in the competition. One of those games came at Accrington, where Everton’s youngsters were beaten 2-1, according to the report.
He could make his Stanley debut on Saturday in the trip to Walsall, with kick-off scheduled for 1500 GMT. The report described Walsall as promotion-chasing.
Accrington boss John Doolan said Butterfield’s move is designed to help him get going. “It’s an opportunity for him to kick-start his career and we hope he will take it,” Doolan told the club website.
